“ANTI-SMOKING CAMPAIGN”
In Cooperation with the Anti-Smoking Charitable Association 6th – 17th February 2010, CHEMANOL Management Compound
In today’s life, addiction to SMOKING has brought disastrous effect to society, economy, family, and on active persons irrespective of their gender, age, or nationality. Smoking has been banned in public places by all civilized societies and people infected with this addiction are considered unwelcomed. They are singled out, isolated into designated “smoking chambers“, and penalized if they been caught smoking in public places. Many families suffered from smoking; their beloved ones are either directly or indirectly exposed to smoke. Smoking relateddiseases kills 1 out in 10 adults globally; if current trends continue it is expected that by 2030 smoking will kill 1 in 6 people. It is expected that half of long-term smokers will die from tobacco. It is estimated that every cigarette smoked cuts at least five minutes of life on average.
As part of CHEMANOL efforts to elevate the level of awareness on the hazard of smoking in our work environment and liaise with our employees to provide practical solutions, an Awareness Campaign against Smoking is being organized by The Anti-Smoking Charitable Association. Starting on 6th until 17th Feb, 2010, a team of doctors and advisers from the Society will be conducting counseling as part of the program exhibit within our company vicinity (house in a tent beside the mosque).
As we are inviting everybody to participate, those who have query and seek counseling are kindly requested to register their names during the first two days of the campaign. The first 3 days of the campaign will focus on awareness about the danger of smoking, its effect to the human body, to community and to our environment. Posters and educational materials will be on display and a team of doctors and advisers will be on stand by to answer all your queries.
The rest of the week is scheduled for a continuous integrated program focusing on effective treatment and the process on how to quit smoking. Along with this, brochures and interactive CD’s will be distributed free to all. This particular segment of the program will held in our canteen.
We believe most smokers want to stop smoking. Some people find it hard to give up, being determined is essential, but there are also things you can do to increase your chances of stopping. Joining this effort will contribute in reducing the hazard of smoking in our company and society.
