Methanol is the simplest alcohol in a group of organic chemicals. It is a clear, colorless liquid that is water soluble and readily biodegradable. It highly versatile building block used to produce thousands of end products that touch our daily lives, such as building materials, foams, resins, plastics, paints, polyester and a variety of health and pharmaceutical products.
Methanol also is a clean-burning, biodegradable fuel. The largest scale applications in terms of volume are processing into formaldehyde, which is further treated to form resins, glues and various plastics, and for the production of acetic acid which is essentially used for the production of polyester fibers and PET plastics.
