Security of the plant infrastructure is maintained through strict policies in compliance with regulations of the High Commission of Industrial Safety. Employees are issued with an ID card which allows access to and from all important locations. Employees, contractors and visitors are given access to various points within the plant and buildings, depending upon their job requirements and the need for such access. Contractor access to plants is provided after proper training about safety and security procedures.
As well as access control systems, security personnel are employed round-the-clock within Chemanol for surveillance. Trained security personnel are responsible for manning the plant gates, carrying out vehicle inspections, and conducting routine security patrols. Regular comprehensive Security Vulnerability Assessment of the operations complex are carried out, and the Company follows ‘deter, detect, deny, delay and defend’ controls. Material movement to and from the premises is controlled by security. Trucks transporting material are checked for fitness, relevant documents, and driver authentication.
Chemanol has a well-trained, competent Emergency Response Team which responds effectively to any adverse situations such as fire and toxic gas release. Specialized training is conducted annually for the Company’s emergency response team, covering hazardous materials (hazmat), rescue, first aid, and dealing with major fires and leaks. Emergency response mock drills are carried out every year as well as an annual drill in collaboration with the Jubail Area Mutual Aid Association (JAMAA), which has confirmed the Company’s preparedness for emergencies as ‘Excellent’.
